As vice president of sales for Texas Recycling, she designs customized recycling programs for companies of all sizes; the results have been astonishing. Customers have complimented Kathy for lowering their trash and labor costs, and in some instances, providing rebates for recycling materials they once threw away. In addition to creating tailored recycling programs, Kathy buys and sells plastic for Texas Recycling.
Top qualities: Listening carefully to the customer and being driven by a deep desire to help others. Kathy takes the time to visit customer sites to gain a real understanding of their needs. As a result, she becomes a long-term partner customers trust.
Kathy’s true loves: When not at work, Kathy can be found on a yoga mat, practicing guitar and spending time with her husband, Michael. She proclaims herself a “crazy cat lady” with four furry felines. She also enjoys traveling adventures with friends.
Director of Operations
Ben Johnson keeps a keen eye on the clock. During his 15 years as a corporate pilot, moving people from Point A to Point B required attention to detail and perfect timing. Today, as director of operations for Texas Recycling, Ben emphasizes that same focus overseeing internal and external processes to maintain the company’s quality production expectations and high level of customer satisfaction. Ben follows a simple mantra for success: create a plan, work the plan, evaluate the results, and look for ways to do even better next time.
Top qualities: Teamwork, mentoring and goals for continuous improvement. Ben works with the Texas Recycling manufacturing and transportation teams to help them achieve the highest level of quality and service to benefit the company’s customers and consumers.
Ben’s favorite pastimes: When he’s not spending quality time with his wife and two daughters, Ben enjoys his hobby as a firearms enthusiast.
Marketing and Office Manager
The ultimate multi-tasker, Hillary Litman fills her days handling nearly every aspect of the business at Texas Recycling. Customers might hear her cheery voice on the phone, meet her face-to-face during site visits, or run into her at industry conferences. As the company's marketing manager, Hillary has launched Texas Recycling's social media efforts. She reaches out to both business and consumer customers, while keeping on top of recycling industry trends and positioning the company for future growth.
Top qualities: Dependable, observant and loyal. Hillary exudes enthusiasm as the third generation of Litmans to work at Texas Recycling. Customers can feel her dedication to the business in every interaction, reassuring them that a focus on service, relationships and value will guide the business for years to come.
Hillary's active avocations: Hillary enjoys Pilates, Flywheel, yoga and running on Dallas' beautiful Katy Trail. She also loves traveling to the East Coast, Colorado and other destinations, where she visits friends and family. On the weekend, she can be found cheering for her alma mater, the University of Miami.
Bernadette (Bernie) Adkins
Shipping and Inventory Control Manager
When Texas Recycling picks up a load of recyclable materials, where does it go? That’s the responsibility of Bernie Adkins, who oversees the company’s shipping and inventory control. Bernie manages the movement of materials out of the recycling plant. When a customer places an order for paper, plastics, metals and other scrap materials, Bernie makes sure it’s available and on the way promptly. Her proactive approach ensures that customers receive the high-quality, on-time service that has become a hallmark of Texas Recycling.
Top qualities: Friendly, organized, detail-oriented and reliable. These characteristics are key for the intricate balancing act of moving materials in and out of the warehouse on schedule, so there is always space available for the recyclable materials the company collects each day.
Bernie’s big hobby: Avid amateur bowlers, Bernie and her husband travel throughout the state to competitions. Bernie is a past state title champion in doubles bowling and bowls in the national tournament.
